The Tennessee Trucking Association (TTA) proudly hosts its annual “Call on Washington” event, a cornerstone activity for our members to directly engage with the Tennessee Delegation in Washington D.C. This event offers a unique platform for industry professionals to voice their concerns, share perspectives, and stay informed about developments impacting the trucking sector.

The Call on Washington Experience

The event commences with a comprehensive policy briefing at the American Trucking Association (ATA) headquarters. Here, participants delve into the latest regulatory updates, discuss key policy issues, and explore upcoming changes that could influence the trucking industry. This briefing is crucial for equipping attendees with the knowledge and confidence needed for meaningful discussions with our representatives.

Following the briefing, members make “calls” to various representatives, fostering a two-way dialogue about the pressing issues and future directions of the trucking industry. These interactions are invaluable for both gaining insights into legislative processes and for ensuring the voices of TTA members are heard at a national level.

The William H. Reed Jr. Memorial Call on Washington Grant

A significant aspect of the “Call on Washington” is the participation of TTA’s young professionals, supported by the William H. Reed Jr. Memorial Call on Washington grant. This scholarship aims to inspire first-time attendees to join and experience this influential event. Established in memory of Bill Reed, a dedicated advocate for the trucking industry, the grant covers travel, lodging, and meal expenses for one or two deserving individuals annually. You can click here to submit your application for this grant.

Past recipients have underscored the impact of this experience. Comments from our previous grantees reveal how the event has not only empowered them as individuals but has also highlighted the importance of active participation in shaping the future of the trucking industry.
