2012 TN DRIVER OF THE YEAR

Do you have a driver who is an outstanding representative of the trucking industry? Nominate him/her for Tennessee Driver of the Year. Any driver affiliated with a TTA member company may be nominated for this prestigious award. The driver should have an exemplary driving record and represent the best aspects of the driving profession. The winner of the award will be presented with a $500 cash prize, a gold watch, and a plaque presented at the annual Tennessee Truck Driving Championships. He or she will then go on to compete against other states’ drivers for the National ATA Driver of the Year Award. Nominations will be due April 13, 2012. Download a Request Form.

2012 Roadside Inspections

Our Roadside Sponsors make it possible for us to provide participants at each inspection site with a cookout lunch. Company Sponsors are recognized at the inspection site and in the TTA monthly e-Newsletter, as well as any announcements sent out about each Roadside.

Dates and locations for each 2012 Roadside will be posted here by the end of February, and also listed in each monthly e-Newsletter.

The Tennessee Trucking Association in conjunction with the Tennessee Department of Safety conducts 7-8 roadside inspections across the State of Tennessee each year. Each roadside offers the best educational experience a company can have regarding how roadside inspections are conducted. Participants divide into teams and a State Trooper is assigned to lead each team. Teams work with the troopers as they pull vehicles in for inspections:

Pre-employment Screening Program

Pre-employment Screening Program (PSP) allows commercial motor carrier companies to electronically access driver inspection and crash records as a part of the hiring process. PSP is another way that we are raising the safety bar for the motor carrier industry and helps to make our roads safer for everyone.

The Pre-Employment Screening Program offers access to up to five years of driver crash data and three years of inspection data regardless of the state or jurisdiction. By using driver safety information during pre-employment screening, commercial carriers will be able to better assess the potential safety risks of prospective driver-employees. PSP also gives drivers additional opportunities to verify the data in their driving history and correct any discrepancies. A driver’s records will be protected in accordance with federal privacy laws.
