Tennessee Trucking Foundation Presents $10,000 to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital
On August 22, 2024, representatives from the Tennessee Trucking Foundation presented a generous $10,000 check to East Tennessee Children's Hospital (ETCH) as part of their ongoing commitment to supporting children's charities across the state.
The donation was made possible through the East Tennessee Big Rigs for Little Kids Golf Classic, one of four annual Big Rigs events that raise funds for children's charities and the Foundation's scholarship fund. This year's East Tennessee event, held on April 18, 2024, continued the tradition of giving that has been a hallmark of the Big Rigs program since its inception in 1989.
Hal Dowland of PrePass and Jeff Reed of Skyline Transport presented the check to Maggie Morgan, representing ETCH. The hospital expressed deep appreciation for the Foundation's generosity, which will help support their vital work in providing healthcare to children in the East Tennessee region.
The Big Rigs for Little Kids program has been a resounding success over the years, raising more than $2.4 million for Tennessee children's charities statewide since 1990. In addition to supporting various children's charities, the program has also bolstered the Tennessee Trucking Foundation's Scholarship Fund. Thanks to the enthusiastic participation in events like the Golf Classic, the Foundation was able to increase the number of scholarships awarded in 2024 and plans to do the same in 2025.
This donation exemplifies the trucking industry's commitment to giving back to the communities it serves. Through events like the Big Rigs for Little Kids Golf Classic, the Tennessee Trucking Foundation continues to make a significant impact on the lives of children across the state while also investing in the future of the industry through its scholarship program.
The Foundation extends its gratitude to all participants and sponsors who made this year's event a success, enabling them to continue their mission of supporting both children's charities and aspiring professionals in the trucking industry.
