About Road Team Activities

Tennessee’s Road Team Captains are professional truck drivers who take the message of highway safety all across Tennessee.
The goal of Tennessee’s Road Team is to create a safe driving environment and save lives on our highways by educating motorists, especially new teen drivers, on how to safely share the road with large trucks and commercial vehicles.

Touch – A – Truck
We will bring out our big truck where the students or participants are able to experience first hand what it is like to sit behind the wheel of a tractor trailer.
We will educate on the “No-Zone” areas of a truck, which are huge blind spots where the truck driver can’t see the motorist.
Fatal Vision Goggles
These are our intoxication goggles that demonstrate how dangerous impaired driving can be. We have activity kits that go hand-in-hand with the use of our goggles. Students or participants can wear these goggles and try to walk our marked straight line that shows how alcohol can impact your control.
We also offer Marijuana goggles where students and participants can put on the goggles to learn about the negative effects that this drug can cause. We pair these with a light ball tossing game using multi-colored balls to demonstrate what marijuana does to your vision and mind.
Lastly, we have opioid and drowsy glasses that simulate the risks of being drowsy as well as taking opioids.
Drowsy Driving Presentation
This is a PowerPoint presentation geared specifically at Drowsy Driving where our Road Team Captain can educate on all things Drowsy Driving.
At a CarFit event, a team of trained technicians and/or health professionals work with each participant to ensure they “fit” their vehicle properly for maximum comfort and safety. A CarFit check takes approximately 20 minutes to complete.
CarFit (Older Driver Safety)
CarFit is an educational program that offers older adults the opportunity to check how well their personal vehicles “fit” them. The program also provides information and materials on community-specific resources that could enhance their safety as drivers and/or increase their mobility in the community.
