NASHVILLE, Tenn., August 25, 2026—The Tennessee Trucking Association (TTA) is pleased to announce that it will be bestowing its highest honor, the esteemed Pinnacle Award, to TCW’s Mr. Scott George, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the trucking industry over the past 27+ years. The award will be formally presented during TTA’s 96 th Annual Convention this September 20-22 at the Hilton Sandestin Golf Resort & Spa.
TCW was founded in 1948 by George’s grandparents, Mary and Howard George, as a warehousing company and expanded into trucking in 1965 under the leadership of Scott’s now late-father Phil George.
Starting at just 13 years old, George moved through every position in the company first with entry-level warehouse laborer, then to driving trucks, dispatching, opening new terminals and then to executive leadership. He took on the role of CEO in 2003 and led the company into great expansion, adding an intermodal logistics operation and growing the company to more than 700 employees at 13 locations throughout the region. Prior to his retirement in 2025, he led the transition of the company to a 100% Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP).
During that time, George also followed his late-father’s example of engraining himself in his community. Over the years he has served TTA in a variety of roles with great impact. In 2005, George began his service on TTA’s executive committee. From 2010-2011, he served as TTA’s chairman of the board. And in 2022, he officially assumed the role of Tennessee Trucking Foundation’s president.
Tommy Hodges, chairman of Goggin Warehousing and TTF’s founding president and predecessor to George, said this about George’s upcoming honor:
“The Pinnacle award was established for two purposes, and they are to inspire industry professionals to give back to the industry as much as they can, and to recognize those folks who have left the industry better than they have found it. Scott George is one of those industry giants that has truly left the industry better than he found it. He has served the industry, in various capacities on both the local, state, and federal levels. Scott has headed up ATA’s national safety committee, he has held various positions at TTA, and he has been at the center of many of the TTF’s most successful programs. He is truly a high achiever who is strongly motivated to make our industry better. When we started the foundation, the original idea was to have a sustaining vehicle to support Tennessee’s Road Team and its efforts to promote highway safety around big trucks and to educate drivers and pre-drivers about our industry. Scott George’s vision and efforts have taken it to the next several levels. The foundation is financially stronger than it has ever been and providing more services to the industry in Tennessee. When I resigned as president and board member of the foundation, I knew it was going to be in good hands and wanted Scott to take it to the “next level.” Talking about exceeding expectations, Scott George hit it out of the park. And, adding to all his accomplishments, he was running a remarkable trucking company in TCW, a humble human being, a giving spirit, and a faithful Christian. Scott George is the poster child of what the Pinnacle Award is all about in my opinion."
Troy Dickens, regional general manager, Rush Truck Center – Nashville and TTA’s current allied membership chair and incoming chairman of the board, said this of George, “Scott is so deserving of this award; his family and company have all been integral part in getting not only the foundation but the association as well where we are today. He has been a leader who never wanted recognition but was always there leading the charge in everything we have tried to accomplish as an organization. We have been very lucky to have Scott George on our team.”
Throughout his tenure, George has modestly shunned the spotlight, preferring to shine it instead on those around him. Quite simply put, Mr. George epitomizes selfless generosity. As such, the award befits the man.
