A Recap of Manchester Scales Day

The Tennessee Trucking Association (TTA) held its latest Roadside Spring 2026 event today, April 2, 2026, at the Manchester Scales on I-24. This recurring educational session is a joint partnership between the TTA and the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP). The goal is to demystify the inspection process.

The event provided a unique opportunity for industry professionals to stand alongside State Troopers as they performed actual inspections. This hands-on approach allows participants to see exactly what an officer looks for during Level I, II, and III inspections.

Focus on the Next Generation

A highlight of the Manchester event was the high turnout of "rookies." Many came out to get their first look at the inspection from an inspector's perspective. Experienced safety directors and maintenance supervisors also attended to refresh their knowledge and discuss recent regulatory changes with the THP.

Beyond the technical training, the day served as a networking hub for Tennessee's trucking community. With lunch sponsored by P&S Transportation, these events are essential for maintaining the strong relationship between the TTA and state regulatory bodies.

Looking Ahead

If you missed the Manchester event, the TTA has several more opportunities scheduled for the spring. These sessions are open to both members and non-members, though pre-registration is required due to limited space at the scale houses. The next roadside inspection event will take place at the Greeneville Scales on April 7, 2026.
