On Tuesday, February 24, 2026, members of the Tennessee Trucking Association gathered at MHC Kenworth to participate in a Building Blocks of Safety Culture Training session hosted by endorsed partner Alliance Interstate Risk.
The training, which also served as a Tennessee Trucking Association Middle Tennessee Safety Council meeting, focused on helping trucking industry professionals explore how to support a strong, sustainable safety culture within their organizations. Attendees participated in a day of practical content and strategies that can be applied within their operations.
Topics included developing a safety-focused workplace culture, strengthening safety policies, procedures, and compliance practices, and learning best practices related to workers’ compensation claims and litigation management.
Participants reviewed data that helps explain when employees are most likely to engage in behaviors that could create safety risks and discussed approaches for encouraging habits that promote safer outcomes for employees and others on the road.
While the session included in-depth discussion, the training was also designed to remain interactive and engaging, blending material with humor and activities to help maintain an open and collaborative learning environment.
When asked about this event, participant Bryant Ward of Kooner Fleet Management Solutions stated, "Building a strong safety culture starts with leadership but is sustained through daily operational discipline. The BBSC event reinforced how critical it is for fleets to align safety, maintenance, and frontline teams around a shared commitment to uptime and driver well-being. It was valuable to hear real-world perspectives and collaborate with others who are actively driving that standard forward."
We’re proud of the TTA members who attended this training and grateful to Alliance Interstate Risk for sharing their expertise, as well as to MHC Kenworth for generously providing their facility for the event.
