In December, we will be holding our annual election meeting. In addition, we will also be hosting Robyn Meeks, Vehicle Services Manager for the Tennessee Department of Revenue (DOR). This will be a great opportunity to learn about the TN DOR implementations to meet the federal mandates and recommendations.
IRP and PRISM Compliance
“PRISM provides states a safety mechanism to identify and immobilize motor carriers with serious safety deficiencies, and hold them accountable through registration and law enforcement sanctions”. In an effort to become a “enhanced participant” of PRISM, Tennessee has passed legislation to suspend carriers under Federal “Out of Service” (OOS). As of Oct 1, 2019, Tennessee is revoking carriers under Federal OOS.”
Electronic Verification of Credentials is now included in the IRP Plan. In accordance with the Plan, Tennessee is now publishing credentials to TNTAP for the taxpayer.
For those who do not know, Crown College who graciously hosts the East Tennessee Safety and Maintenance Council meetings have a 2 year Auto/Diesel Technology program taught on Campus. This is a great opportunity for the Maintenance departments of our area Carriers and Diesel Repair facilities to make contact with potential Technician candidates to ease the ever growing Technician Shortage. Please see Mr. Michael Mabe for any needed information on Crown College’s Auto/Diesel Program.
