SMC & MC

Memphis Cargo Task Force Contacts

This Task Force covers Tennessee from Memphis to Lebanon.  They are interested in developing a relationship with each carrier in that area.  If you would like to be available to them in the event you might have cargo or equipment involved in a theft, here is their contact information.

TTA Management Council

A council of carrier management professionals meeting together to promote a cooperative effort and professional interaction in the improvement of human resources, risk management, recruiting and retention, benefits, employee relations, owner-operators, education, safety, efficiency and operation of transport equipment, and operations and its management in order to benefit the motor carrier industry, the member companies of Tennessee Trucking Association and the motoring public.

Safety Management Council (SMC)

The Safety Management Council was developed to promote methods and materials for improved safety in the field of commercial motor vehicle transportation. The operation of a good safety compliance program is a duty and obligation of every motor carrier, so carriers must stay abreast of constantly changing DOT regulations.

The Tennessee Trucking Association’s Safety Management Council is an excellent source of information on safety matters for TTA members. The Council consists of company safety and risk management personnel, industry vendors and law enforcement officials. TTA encourages all companies with TTA members to have at least one active participant in the SMC.

Maintenance Council (MC)

The TTA Maintenance Council was established for the exchange of ideas and information about new developments in maintenance and related subjects. The council strives to improve the skills of professional personnel in this important field.

The Council consists of fleet maintenance supervisors, representatives of manufacturers of transportation equipment and components, and law enforcement officials. All regional chapters meet together once a year at a fall seminar. The TTA Fleet Maintenance Council co-sponsors a number of activities for the Council, as well.

Both the SMC and the MC have five regional chapters available to TTA members in the following cities:

  • Memphis*
  • Nashville
  • Chattanooga*
  • Knoxville*
  • Tri-Cities*

*Denotes SMC/MC Combined Chapters

The Councils are open to any TTA member company’s employees involved in safety or maintenance. Contact us to be added to the Council email roster.

Council members may log-in for more information about local chapter events.
